a meeting of the EFI Executive at the Ambassador Hotel, Naas, on
Thursday, January 9, the recommendations put forward in a paper
drawn up by Morgan Buckley, MD of ASMT Ltd. (Atlantic Sports Management
and Training) in January 2003, regarding the modernisation of the
EFI, were agreed upon.
proposals reflect in large part matters discussed by the EFI and
the Irish Horse Board at joint meetings over the last few months,
and also the recommendations made by the Taskforce set up to examine
the possible formation of an umbrella body for equestrian sport.
is believed that the vision of a combined body to manage the sport
is still on the agenda, and that the changes suggested in this document
are part of the ongoing process to not only facilitate the fulfillment
of the High Performance programme for equestrian sport, but also
help to create a new body that will bring the sport horse and the
breeding sector together.
