HorseTV Announces New Programming For April/May

A Television Special From Iceland
Launch of the new National High School Rodeo Series, "20X Rodeo High!"
Launch of the new Appaloosa Horse Club Series

Houston, TX - HorseTV announced today new additions to its April - May program lineup. By adding to its programming base unique television specials and on-going series covering many different aspects of the horse world, HorseTV continues its ongoing expansion while pursuing its goal of the 24/7 HorseTV Channel.

In a faraway land called Iceland, one would expect the weather to be far too cold and icy to ride and train horses very much during the wintertime. However, during a time of year when many U.S. horses are blanketed and standing in their stalls, the Icelanders do most of their riding! In this television program produced exclusively for HorseTV, viewers will be able to join these hardy Icelanders and their horses as they compete in their favorite winter sport.

On a freezing cold Sunday morning in the month of February, a few farmers in a countryside called Kjós go out on Lake Meðalfellsvatn on their tractors to move snow from the ice covering the lake. They are preparing the ice for the upcoming competition on the frozen lake. In this fascinating program premiering in April, stallions, mares and geldings compete at top speed and form. Professional riders, children and farmers alike have the time of their lives, although needing protective clothing to protect their bodies from the cold. Icelandic riders love to compete with their horses in this amazing winter sport. People trailer their horses from town to experience the wonderful and unique joy of riding their horses on the same lake that is famous for trout and salmon fishing. Watching the competition will demonstrate why these unique little Icelandic horses do so well on ice, utilizing the gait which Icelanders believe God gave only to their one and only horse breed. “Horses on Ice” offers a wonderful glimpse into the wonderful equestrian society which surrounds the Icelandic horse during wintertime in Iceland.

In a land with 290,000 habitants and 80,000 horses (one horse for every 3.5 people) every town has a neighborhood of stables and barns where people come together every day during the winter to enjoy their companionship with the horses.

"The Appaloosa Horse," produced by Midwest Media for the Appaloosa Horse Club, is an ongoing series that will showcase the style and ability of the Appaloosa, while
capturing the versatility, leisure and significance of family values. Focusing on highlights from top shows and competitions, as well as interviews with top trainers and breeders,

"The Appaloosa Horse" is designed not only for current fans of this breed with a unique history, but also for those seeking their first horse.

"20X Rodeo High," also from Midwest Media for the National High School Rodeo Association, is a 26-week series featuring America's youth, and follows their involvement in one of the top spectator sports in the country. This will be an action-packed, feature magazine program that highlights the participants, their rides, and the best performances from the weekly rodeos. Viewers will meet some of the competitors and learn first-hand how the sport of rodeo has positively impacted these young people's lives. The NHSRA began as a state rodeo in Halletsville, Texas, in 1947. The mission of the NHSRA is to promote the positive image of rodeo and preserving the Western Heritage, while maintaining the highest regard for livestock.
