New Webbing Tack Range has Quality and Versatility

Webbing tack is the modern day alternative to traditional leather, but now, thanks to Plymouth based manufacturer Libbys, it is moving into a new era.

"Webbing is seen as ideal for exercising and for the specialist designs we have introduced for endurance riders," says Libby Virgoe, who with husband, Nigel, started their company in 1996.

"Now we are producing tack which has the quality to be used at shows and events in all three disciplines - show jumping, dressage and Horse Trials - and what's more, it is versatile."

The Team Fredericks Range, designed in collaboration with leading husband and wife event riders Lucinda and Clayton Fredericks, is manufactured in high quality, black web material and brass fittings, although eyelets are gunmetal black and unobtrusive. The bridle has clip attachments for the bit, which makes it quick and easy to swap for event phases.

""What I wanted to see on the market was a range of webbing tack which could be changed around easily, but looked smart and people would accept as an alternative to leather," says Clayton.

And as well as being smart and versatile, the range has the advantage of all Libbys tack - when it is dirty you just put it in the washing machine!

The webbing used by Libbys is 2.5 times stronger than its equivalent in good quality leather, although most items have a built-in safety factor which will usually give way in an emergency. It is also labour saving - it drip dries when it has been out in the rain and when it is dirty, can be washed on a normal machine cycle.
