severely emaciated 15.2 hh dark brown gelding advertised for sale
in the 'Free Ads' as a 'Light Hack' for £250 has found sanctuary
thanks to a vigilant horse lover.
year old Danny Boy had been at a livery yard in Great Yarmouth,
Norfolk, last August when an ILPH (International League for the
Protection of Horses) Field Officer and the RSPCA warned his young
owner to take better care of him.
long after he was moved to another yard and was recently advertised
A prospective buyer, who responded to the ad, contacted the ILPH
as soon as she saw the appalling condition he was in.
Jacko Jackson, ILPH Field Officer, "Danny Boy's owner moved
him after we had seen him last year so we lost track of him, but
thanks to the person who responded to the ad and contacted us, we
were able to visit once again."
the help of the livery yard owner the young woman was persuaded
to sign the horse over to the ILPH and he is now at Hall Farm, Snetterton.
Jacko, "To say he is thin is an understatement - I really thought
our vet would advise us to put him down, but no, he reckons he has
a good chance."
Boy is now in ILPH care and hopefully with a carefully planned diet,
proper dental, veterinary and farriery attention, and lots of tlc
he will make a full recovery.
