Pippa Looks For Fourth Hickstead Win
winner and European champion Pippa Funnell, already on the crest
of an eventing wave, has her sights firmly set on another landmark
win this year - a fourth victory in the showjumper/event rider annual
"needle match" at the Golden Jubilee Royal International
Horse Show (July 24-28).
Eventing Grand Prix is a novel mix of eventing and showjumping obstacles
which starts and finishes in Hickstead's famous International Arena

with Anne Burnet's mare The Tourmaline Rose, has won three of the
four runnings of this innovative competition where victory has so
far eluded the showjumpers - although last year Michael Whitaker
ran her a very close second.
Eventing Grand Prix also pairs off riders from each discipline,
with individual scores amalgamated to find a winner. One pair in
the Pairs Challenge will be sponsored by Jumpers Horseline, while
new fence sponsor Devoucoux will be branding one of the cross country
year, the Eventing Grand Prix will be run on Friday, July 26.
