USA Equestrian
Reward Offered For Information And Conviction Of Saddlebred Assailants

A reward of at least $100,000 is being offered for information leading to the apprehension and successful prosecution of the individual(s) responsible for the attacks on five American Saddlebreds at the Double D Ranch owned by Dena and Dave Lopez, in Versailles, KY.

Five American Saddlebred horses, among them multiple world champion CH Wild Eyed and Wicked, owned by Sally and Joe Jackson, were harmed by an unknown assailant or assailants by injection of a caustic substance that caused the blood vessels to harden and the tissue around the injury to harden and die. Each horse had a nearly identical circular wound on the back of its left front pastern. Medical tests of the mystery substance are being performed by top veterinarians at Cornell University. Other horses involved are Cats Don't Dance, Meet Prince Charming, Kiss Me and Sassational.

This reward fund and additions to it are offered under the jurisdiction of USA Equestrian, Inc., the National Equestrian Federation of the United States, and is subject to oversight of its Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Major pledges have also been received from the United Professional Horsemen’s Association of Lexington, Kentucky, private individuals including owners of the horses attacked, and others. The American Saddlebred Horse Association Foundation, Inc, is also arranging for contributions to be dedicated either to the care of the horses affected, or to the reward fund.

To provide information, contact the Kentucky State Police, Post 12, Frankfort, Kentucky, and/or call 800-378-3463 or 502-227-2221. Information may be provided anonymously.
