Show Jumping Result: IJM Timberframe Grand Prix League - Marshall Swoops To Take Blessington Grand Prix

There was a riveting finish to today's Blessington Super League Grand Prix which saw the top three league leaders engaged in an intriguing jump-off battle which went right down to the wire.

With Super League points on offer, the competition was always going to be tough, and ten of the twenty-eight starters successfully negotiated Tom Holden's course as the rain mercifully held off over Kill International Equestrian Centre.

The two league leaders, Conor Swail and Shane Breen, both got two horses into the finale, but there was no place in the jump-off for yesterday's Omagh winner Peter Smyth as Zara's Pride grazed a fence in their first attempt. Harry Marshall, hot on the heels of the league leaders, got All Shook Up into the decider, but had earlier lost out on Splendido with one down.

Edward Doyle was the first of the ten to go in the jump-off, and got Carrick Clover clear in 35.99, which proved good enough to hold the lead until there were only three left to jump. Doyle's time was finally ousted by Conor Swail on Conduct who beat the target by two-and-a-half seconds, only to see Shane Breen nick almost another second off on Luandra.

No one was counting their league points just yet, however, as Harry Marshall still had to jump on All Shook Up. Their caution proved to be well-founded as the Ballyclare rider proved yet again that where Super League points are at stake, he can never be ignored, and the pair duly stole the honours by going clear and ousting Breen's leading time just under half a second.

In the overall league standings, Swail still leads the way, but Breen has closed the gap, with Marshall gaining momentum in third. John Floody's sixth place today on Summerhill saw him edge ahead of out-of-luck Peter Smyth into fourth place in the overall standings.
