ILPH Zena, Warrior, Princess

When Jade Bell (9) visited ILPH Overa House Farm, Larling as a birthday treat little did she think that the family would shortly return as competition winners. "It's the first time we have visited the centreº, says Jade, "I loved seeing all the rescued horses and ponies - it was really cool !"

Comments Mrs Bell, from Thorpe Marriot, Norwich, "There was a "name the foal competition", but as the foal hadn't been born we didn't know whether it would be male or female."

It was Ben Bell (12) who, realising that the mare was called Zena, suggested Warrior for a colt (boy) and Princess for a filly (girl) foal (after the tv programme Xena, Warrior Princess) and it was good enough for them to win !

The family were thrilled to meet Warrior who was born fit and healthy against all the odds. His mother, Zena, came into the ILPH extremely under nourished and covered in lice.

Adds Tony Tyler, ILPH Centre Manager, "We were extremely worried for Zena, she was pathetically thin when she arrived, but she has done Warrior proud he is a stirling little chap."
