Who wins this Sires of the World competition at Zangersheide?

Jos Lansink and AK High Valley Z , of course

Over the past four years Jos Lansink has dominated The Sires of The World from start to finish. The question of who will win the Sires of the World today at the World Championship for Young Horses at Zangersheide has become somewhat silly. Jos Lansink and AK High Valley Z , of course. In the jump-off for three riders the poles were rattling in their cups, but the 'bronze' medal from Jerez turned his horse on a penny, took risks also on the last line and clocked a clear round in 30.23. More than two full seconds faster than Woutjan Van der Schans on Broere VDL Atlantic (Acord x Lord) and Nina B Johnsen, formerly Nina Braaten on Favoritas (Flanel x Rubilak). This is the third victory of the Zangersheide combination Lansink-AK High Valley Z at the last four editions.

On Saturday 45 combinations appeared at the start of the Zangersheide Sires of The World facing a course that was built up to a maximum 1m50. And although Peter Geerink on Norit Larino (Concorde x Armstrong, KWPN) as first starter jumped a clear round, it soon turned out that imitating this would be no sinecure. Only eight combinations would eventually survive the course built by Eugène Mathy without problems. Same eight combinations returned in the second round, of course, but were now joined by the twelve best (4 and 8 faults) from the first round. In this second round Koen Vereecke on his BWP stallion Millar (Quick d'Argentan x Etretat) kept his slate clean and of the eight clears from the first round five combinations now accumulated penalties. Jos Lansink with four faults and a fast ride on AK John Z (Jasper x Enfant de Normandy) also claimed a fourth prize, in addition to the victory of the event.
