Good results for Irish Sport Horses

Good results for Irish Sport Horses in showjumping at Wembley CSI-A, Bremen CSI-A and Neustadt CSI-B, 5-7 October 2001

Bremen: Audi Championat (Grand Prix): Dermot Lennon (Irl) was fourth with Liscalgot. The combination were part of the Irish team along with Jessica Kurten and Peter Charles that won the team event ahead of Germanys top two teams. Ten teams participated.

Wembley (Grand Prix): Robert Smith with Mr Springfield, and Di Lampard with Abbervail Dream were 5th and 6th, respectively.

Leading Showjumper 1.50m:

1st, Abbervail Dream

2nd, Mr Springfield

The Daewood Championships 1.55m:

3rd, Mr Springfield

5th, Cullawn Diamond (Jane Annett)

Neustadt (Austria) Grand Prix: F. Vogt (Lie) was 3rd with Touch of Clover

The breeding of the above horses is as follows:

Liscalgot (ISH) is a 1991 mare by Touchdown (ISH), out of Tullas Pride (ISH), by Tula Rocket (TB), bred and owned by Mr Terence Harvey, 156 Dundalk Road, Crossmaglen, Newry, Co. Down.Liscalgot competed on the Irish Gold Medal winning team at the European Championships, and was 6th in the Individual Final of the FEI European show jumping championships in Arnhem. She also won the Modena (CSIO) Grand Prix and was 2nd in both the Geesteren (CSI A) GP and the Maubeuge (CSI A) GP in 2001.

Abbervail Dream is a 1987 gelding, by Chairlift (TB), out of Killea Beauty (ISH), by Smooth Stepper (TB), bred by Ms Majorie Quarton, Crannagh, Ballycommon, Nenagh, Co Tipperary and owned by Mr Robert Verburght. He was ranked 32st, 44th, 19th, 54th and 27th in the WBFSH rankings for 2000,1999, 1998, 1997 and 1996.

Mr Springfield is a 1993 gelding, by Western Promise (ISH), out of Glebe Bess (RID), by Ballinahow Boy (RID), bred by Mr Robert L Gallagher, 22 Springfield Road, Co Derry. In 2001, he was 3rd in the 1..40m Table A class and was 2nd in the 1m40- 2 Phases in Cannes (Fra) CSI A. In 2000, he won the Grand Prix at Wembley and he also won 3 other international classes in Europe.

Cullawn Diamond is a 1994 gelding by Ballinvella (TB), out of Diamond No More (ISH), by Diamond Prince (RID). He was bred by Shay Foley, Templemore Road, Grange, Roscrea, Co Tipperary and is owned by Jane Williams. This horse represented the ISH studbook at the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for young horses at Lanaken, September 2001

Touch of Clover is a 1990 gelding, by Touch Stone (ISH), out of Clover Vale (ISH) by Clover Hill (RID), bred by Mr Ted McKenna, 17 Main Street, Beragh, Omagh, Co Tyrone. Rider: Mr F Vogt (Ita). In 2001, he won the Grand Prix in Prati di Vizze (Ita) CSI B on 10th June and was 3rd in the Grand Prix in Neustadt (Aut) CSI C on the 25th March.
