Mounted Games riders come from all walks of life and can be any age. The Mounted Games Association of Great Britain (MGAGB) splits riders into categories according to their age, but this is not integrated into the rules of Mounted Games and may vary from country to country. The Minis category is for riders from as young as 6 years old. The Minis always attract a great following at competitions with the theme tune, of "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands" sung for them. Riders remain in Minis until they are 12, then move on to Juniors. Juniors are aged from 13 to 16 years and are a very competitive group, always seeking perfection and longing for the day when they will advance into Seniors. Seniors are 17 and over and as there is no upper age limit. Many riders are at least 40! The seniors ride at great speeds and regularly compete at major equestrian events such as Gatcombe horse trials as a main ring display.
