Eqvalan is still as good as ever

Eqvalan paste is as effective in controlling worms in horses today as it was 21 years ago, when it was first introduced into the market, according to the latest research work, which was reported in the prestigious journal, Veterinary Parasitology.

The efficacy of Eqvalan against naturally acquired gastrointestinal worms was determined in ponies at two widely separated locations. Following treatment with the standard dose of Eqvalan, the average efficacy against all worms present was over 99%.

Eqvalan was outstandingly effective in removing small strongyles, with 99 - 100 % efficacy in all the animals. This is particularly noteworthy, as not only are small strongyles the most common and troublesome of horse worms, but also they are the ones which have been of most concern in the emergence of resistance to other wormers.

"We are delighted to prove that Eqvalan is just as effective today as it was more than 20 years ago," says Merial's head of equine business Ronnie Leggat. "At a time when so much is written about worm resistance, and new products are coming on to the market, it's good to know that those you have known and trusted over the years are still just as effective."
