British Horse Society announces new sponsorship deal

Young TREC Riders get leg up from Ashby House

Ashby House, one of the UK's leading online retailers of riding clothes and tack (http://www.ashby-house.com), are to sponsor a new class for Young Riders at the BHS TREC Championships this year. The Classes at the Scottish (14-15 June), Welsh (5-6 July), English (19-20 July) and British Championships (2-3 August) are aimed at aspiring young TREC riders aged between 16 and 18 years, with the intention of producing a Young Riders Team to contest the European TREC Championships that take place in Belgium between 5 and 7 September.

As the National Governing Body for TREC in Great Britain, the Society is intending to take a full team of six riders aged between 16 and 18 years, and the Competitions Office is very keen to hear from any young TREC riders who would be interested in meeting this challenge.

Ashby House are increasing their commitment to BHS TREC this year after supporting the senior GB Team in the 2002 World Championships at El Rocio in Spain, where the team finished just outside the medals.

Working in partnership with the British Horse Society, Ashby House is looking to encourage youth development in this fast growing discipline by increasing both training and competition opportunities for this age group.
An initial training weekend is planned for April to help a squad prepare for our domestic Championships. The classes for Young Riders will be at Level 3 (orienteering up to 32kms and jumping at approximately 0.78metres). The Team for the European Championships will be selected after the British Championships in early August.
