horse Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center Donates Signed Team Basketball to Juleps & Jockeys Gala for Auction

RALEIGH, NC – A signed basketball recently sold on ebay for over $1500 and Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center donated one to the Raleigh Jaycees to auction at the 2001 Juleps & Jockeys Gala.

“We do a lot of fundraising activity for the Duke Cancer Center,” states Jeannie Beeston, Raleigh Jaycee and Juleps & Jockeys event chair, “We are very excited about the amount of support that Duke Cancer and specifically Ellen Stainbeck have provided to this event.”

The Juleps & Jockeys Gala will be held at Exploris in downtown Raleigh from 6:00 - 11:00 pm on Friday, May 4, one day prior to the Brookhill Steeplechase at Brookhill Farm in Clayton. Tickets to this black-tie gala are $100 per person and are tax deductible. Doors open at 6:00 pm and dancing will begin at 8:00 pm. The silent auction items will be available to bid on at 6pm and the live auction items, including the Duke basketball and roundtrip airfare for two provided by American Airlines. Speakers at the event include Dr. Mike Colvin, director of the Duke Cancer Center, and Karey Martin, Brookhill Steeplechase chair.
