Newmarket Racecourses On The Lookout For Tour Guides

As the racing season gets off to another very successful start, Newmarket Racecourses is looking for additional Tour Guides to help out on racing days.

'We have a lot of new visitors to Newmarket each year', explained Gaynor Haxby, Marketing Manager, 'and we need knowledgeable people with a good understanding of racing, and Newmarket to help show visitors around and explain what happens where, how to place bets and to generally make people feel welcome and at ease.'

Whilst Newmarket Racecourses is looking for volunteers, successful candidates will be paid, issued with a uniform and will take part in a day's induction which will involve a tour of the facilities.

Rose Todd, pictured, has been an Official Guide for more than a year, and has built up an incredible wealth of knowledge and is full of interesting stories about the racecourse. 'I thoroughly enjoy race days', said Rose, 'and new visitors to the racecourse certainly appreciate a bit of guidance, it makes the whole experience more enjoyable if you know what to do and where you're going'.
