Caldene Back At BETA International 2004

Caldene which has recently been sold to Matchmakers International is to return to BETA International 2004 after a two year break.

Led by three generations of the Uttley family, latterly Carl Uttley and his sister Jill Butters, Caldene was granted a Royal Warrant last year as a supplier of breeches to the Queen. The brand has been in existence since 1922.

Now owned by Matchmakers International, Caldene will have their own stand at the biggest and best equestrian and country clothing based Trade Fair throughout the world.

Says Richard Lawrence of Matchmakers International, the new title sponsors of the event: "The Caldene name fits very comfortably into our current portfolio. This year will see a whole new look for the brand and BETA International will provide an ideal showcase. We are all very excited about the future. Development plans are already underway.

Bradford-based Matchmakers International already distributes Harry Hall, Masta, Cottage Craft, Westropp and Jack Ellis into the equestrian market.

"The equestrian and country clothing sector needs to breathe new life and dynamism into the trade and we aim not to disappoint.

"Innovations in terms of products and services are being developed all the time and we are moving away from the old fashioned image that has surrounded equestrianism in a bid to take it forward to new heights.

"BETA International 2004 gives us the platform to do this and we hope that the Caldene stand will attract Trade Fair visitors keen to see our new range," added Richard.

BETA International Organiser Tom Hustler said: "We are very pleased to have Caldene back at BETA International, they remain a major brand and have a longstanding involvement in the Trade Fair."
