IPEC European Dressage Championship

IPEC (International Paralympic Equestrian Committee) Open European Dressage Championship will be organised from 17 to 22 September 2002 in Anadia (POR).

The Championship is hosted by the Portuguese Sports Federation for the Disabled and the POR NF. The competition is for disabled riders of all grades according to IPEC Rules.

IPEC supports international equestrian sport for people with disabilities. Medical Classifiers determine a Grade for each competitor. IPEC produces rule books for Dressage and Driving as well as Dressage tests suitable for all Grades. The FEI and IPEC signed a cooperation agreement in 2001.

Development Update

Beside the organisation of courses for riders and officials, another example of the support to the development of equestrian sport is the recent purchase of technical equipment. Thanks to the kind assistance of the Swiss company TAG HEUER, the FEI was able to acquire three basic timing equipments at a preferential price. This equipment will be used for the further development of equestrian competitions in Central Asia, Baltic and Central European regions.

Each timing equipment will be shared by the NFs of the same region, i.e. KAZ, UZB, KGZ for Central Asia; LAT, EST, LTU for the Baltic countries and UKR and BLR for Central Europe. This should help enhancing regional events and World Cup CSIs towards FEI higher standard.

New CAI-B in the North American Driving Challenge

Fair Hill, Elkton, Maryland (USA)- 25 - 27October 2002 was included in the FEI Calendar as a CAI-B. It was decided to include the event in the North American Challenge Series.
