Capistrano Summer Festival, Featuring the Oaks Blenheim International, To Host Exciting World-Class Equestrian Show Jumping Competition

San Juan Capistrano, CA—June 6, 2003—Tickets are now available for the Capistrano Summer Festival, featuring the Oaks Blenheim International CSI****, July 17-20, at Oaks Blenheim Exhibitions, in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Complimentary General Admission tickets for Saturday and Sunday are available for a limited time only on the Capistrano Summer Festival’s website at www.capistranofestival.com. Tickets are also available for purchase on the website for the Festival’s Friday night concert.

The Oaks Blenheim International CSI**** features some of the world’s best show jumping horses and riders. It is highlighted by the $175,000 Cargill Grand Prix of the United States presented by HBO. In addition to exciting Grand Prix equestrian show jumping, the Capistrano Summer Festival also features a concert, presented by the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, hosted by Brad Garrett, “Robert Barone” on Everybody Loves Raymond , on CBS-TV. The concert features the legendary 1960s pop group, Herman’s Hermits, starring Peter Noone, and Chuck Negrone formerly of Three Dog Night.

The Capistrano Summer Festival will host Kids Days on Saturday and Sunday with Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona appearing on Saturday.

The Oaks Blenheim International starts on Thursday, July 17, with the $10,000 Hermes International Speed Class, an exciting equestrian jumping round based on the horse’s speed and ability to jump imposing obstacles. It will be followed by the $10,000 Robert Mondavi Winery International Welcome Class.

Friday’s events include a $10,000 jump-off class, as well as the $25,000 St. Regis Resort International Class. On Saturday, the $50,000 Budweiser International Speed Derby begins at 3pm, following the $10,000 Junior-Amateur Owner Jumper Classic. The Budweiser International Speed Derby is a thrilling event in which horse and rider gallop over an obstacle course with jumps ranging as high as 5’!

Sunday’s finale begins at 11am. The thrilling Cargill Grand Prix of the United States, presented by HBO, features a $175,000 purse. Several of the world’s top Grand Prix riders are expected to be on hand to compete in this featured event of the third annual Oaks Blenheim International CSI, which was the country’s first outdoor CSI (international individual show jumping competition).

Kids’ Days activities will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.. As part of Kids’ Days, children can enjoy exciting activities and meet the sheriff of Orange County, Mike Carona who will be on hand on Saturday the 19th.

The Capistrano Summer Festival also offers VIP ticket packages that include reserved ringside seating under the Hospitality Tent, Thursday and Friday receptions, a Saturday luncheon and Sunday brunch, in addition to preferred parking.
