Young Rider European Championships
Le Touquet - France 3 - 6 July 2003


The 2003 Young Rider Championships were hosted in the beautiful city of Le Touquet, France from 3 - 6 July 2003.

The Team competition was held on Friday with a total of 13 teams forward. The German team were outstanding throughout the whole competition finishing in the Gold Medal position on a score of 1 fault with Nederlands in Silver Medal position on a total score of 15 faults. Norway finished in Bronze position on a total of 18 faults.

The British team finished in 6th position on a total of 27 faults. Detailed below is the full result:-

GOLD Germany 1ft
SILVER Nederlands 15fts
BRONZE Norway 18fts
4th Ireland 19fts
5th Belgium 21fts
6th Great Britain 27fts

Great Britains team scores were as follows:-

James Davenport Florie Du Moulin 17fts 8fts
Ben Maher Clouds Away 1ft 5fts
Matthew Broome Hopes are High 9fts 4fts
Robert Whitaker Qualite Clear 8fts

The Individual Championship took place on Sunday, 6th July with the top 30 riders participating for the Individual medals. Three British riders had qualified to participate in the Individual Championship, Matthew Broome, Robert Whitaker and Ben Maher.

The final individual result was as follows:-

GOLD Caroline Muller (GER) Kyraleen 1.35
SILVER Jorne Sprehe (GER) Lady Weingard 8.74
BRONZE Wim Vos (NED) Dublin V 9.17
4th Ben Maher (GBR) Clouds Away 13.75
5th Stephanie Breitenstein (SUI) First Chance 15.46
6th Damien Plume (BEL) Qarco vh Merelnest 15.53
