USA EQUESTRIAN ANNOUNCES RESULT OF 2001 HBO/AHSA PONY JUMPER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM COMPETITION

USA Equestrian (formerly AHSA) announced today the results of the 2001 HBO/AHSA Pony Jumper National Championship team competition, which took place on August 16th 2001 at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center, Fletcher, NC.

Riders from across the nation competed with fellow members of their Zone to vie for top honors in the Team Championship. Competitors qualified for this event by being one of the top four rider/pony combination in their Zone based on National points.

RESULTS:
1. Zone 5 - Elizabeth Votruba (Frosty), Gates Mill, OH, owner - Julianne Befeler; Kristen Vanderveen, (Bull Runs Super Sonic), Wheaton, IL; Eric Sassmannshausen (TNT), St. Charles, IL, owner - Lee Casty; Hilary Vijan, New Albany, IL (Zoombini), owners - DHS Farms & Hilary Vijan.

The AHSA Pony Finals runs through tomorrow, Friday August 17th and will include the Small, Medium and Large Pony classes as well as the Individual Jumper Championships.


USA Equestrian Inc., as the National Equestrian Federation of the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping, and vaulting, as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As the country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation has over 77,000 members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all judges, stewards, and technical delegates who officiate at these shows.
