ILPH to sell Lingfield Centre

The ILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses) has decided sell Cherry Tree Farm its centre near Lingfield, Surrey.

Due to its success the ILPH needs to expand its operations in southern England and it has decided to sell Cherry Tree Farm its founding centre, opened in 1948 as there is no room on site for development.

The sale of the property, comprising a 17th Century farm house, cottages and 43 acres, will allow the ILPH to look for a larger more suitable site in Southern England as and when one comes on the market.

All Staff currently working at Cherry Tree Farm will be offered positions at other ILPH centres.

John Smales, Chief Executive, comments " We are sad to take this decision as Cherry Tree Farm was our founding recovery and rehabilitation centre, but the property is too small and too decentralized to be developed.

"Thanks to our excellent facilities in Norfolk and elsewhere all the horses and ponies currently at Cherry Tree can be accommodated at our other centres. Our first concern is equine welfare and until we have established a new centre in southern England all new welfare cases will be taken to the closest existing centre.

The ILPH have appointed Windsor Clive International, the equestrian specialists, and Messrs Howard Cundey of Lingfield to act as agents in the sale.
