Olympia Show Jumping Entry Changes

Changes to the FEI’s World Cup Jumping Rules mean that the National Show Jumping entries for this year’s Olympia International Show Jumping Championships (18th-22nd December) will be through the Ranking List only for the top 10 riders.

In the past the organisers have been able to take, in addition to the top 10 on the BSJA rankings list, the three highest placed British riders at a special October fixture known as The Olympia Qualifier and latterly run at Addington. Qualifiers from this show, who would not otherwise have been seen at the main event at Olympia in recent years, have included the likes of Liz Edgar, Keith Shore, Ellen Whitaker and Nick Skelton.

Olympia Director, Simon Brooks-Ward said: “At Olympia we can play host to a total of 38 riders due to space for the stables, lorries and time for the classes. The new rules have upped the number of foreign competitors we have to have from 21 to 28 leaving us with 10 British riders to host.”

One further change to counteract the effect of the loss of the qualifier is that the organisers will invite the top 10 British riders from the BSJA’s September ranking list, not the August ranking as in previous years.

There will be ten performances at Olympia from Thursday 18th December – Monday 22nd December. The box office is contactable by telephone 0870 733 0733 (international visitors should ring 00 44 115 912 9220) or visit the web site at www.olympiashowjumping.com. Tickets start from as little as £15 with concessions for Children 15 and under and Senior Citizens at certain performances. For Private Boxes please call Jane Charley on 01753 847900.
