Rescued Horses and Ponies on Show

Rescued horses and ponies of all shapes and sizes will be given the opportunity to show off their new skills at the The Ultimate Equine Experience at the Royal Highland Exhibition Centre, Ingliston, at the beginning of December.

On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December horses and ponies out on loan from the ILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses) will be going through their paces in the main arena to show their versatility.

Ponies such as ILPH Caper who was rescued from Northern Ireland and who is now out on loan as a driving pony and Bracken a Highland pony who came into ILPH Belwade Farm in Aboyne crippled by an extremely bad crack in his hoof who, shortly after arriving, went down with Grass Sickness. ILPH Aurora Borealis (or Rory for short) who came to the ILPH as a 3 year old with no coordination who kept falling over. He is now a vaulting horse for the Scottish Vaulting Team. They will be joined by ILPH Hamilton and ILPH Glespin who now work the beat with the Strathclyde Mounted Police and ILPH Mac and Baron, ex of Fairways Horse Sanctuary in Perthshire, who are now with Glasgow City Council and ILPH Juno the rescued pony who features on the Christmas raffle tickets.

At 11.30 am on both days Suzie Mennie, Head Girl at ILPH Belwade Farm will pipe the horses and ponies into the arena.

The ILPH Shows Promotion Unit will be at the Event where everybody may do some Christmas shopping, sign the Say NO to Live Exports campaign petition or find out all about the worldwide welfare work that the League does.
