horse New Marshall & Sterling League Gears Up for 2003 Season

SAUGERTIES, NY (December 2, 2002)--The New Marshall & Sterling League, presented by Corona-Lexol, is pleased to announce that it will offer hunter/jumper exhibitors some exciting new levels of competition for the 2003 season. The new League will introduce an expanded series of competition to include 11 hunter divisions, 5 jumper divisions, indoor finals for the Young Jumper Championships, the HBO Junior Medal Class, the Charles Owen Children's and Adult Medal Classes, and a Grand Prix. The competition year will culminate in an exclusive National Indoor Finals to be held September 17-21, 2003 at Worcester's Centrum Centre, Worcester, Massachusetts.

Worcester's Centrum Centre is one of the nation's most celebrated sports arenas, located right in the heart of New England (40 miles west of Boston). With this impressive facility as its backdrop, the New Marshall & Sterling League will provide a first-class finals competition that is poised to become the event of the season for hunter/jumper enthusiasts across the country.

"The Marshall & Sterling League has seen tremendous growth since its inception in 1991," said Tom Struzzieri, owner and president of HITS. "We have seen the League grow from its small beginnings of 10 member shows and approximately 100 riders, to over 300 horse shows and more than 3,500 riders. Encouraged by this popularity, we decided to open up the League to a broader range of competitors and to offer a spectacular end to the season with our new indoor finals at Worcester's Centrum Centre."

The expanded slate of divisions offered at the Finals will showcase a broad range of horses and riders, from ponies to Grand Prix. Member horse shows will offer New Marshall & Sterling League classes coast to coast throughout the season, thereby providing exhibitors all over the country the chance to qualify for the Finals. The 2003 season runs from January 1, 2003 to August 31, 2003. The qualifying period for subsequent years is September 1 through August 31. Riders must be members of the League to be eligible for the Finals. Any horse shown by a member rider will earn points in the division. Horses will qualify for the Finals based on points accumulated at member shows throughout the season.
