All-Ireland Student Riding Championships Scheduled For February 22-24

Twenty-one colleges have so far confirmed entries for the All-Ireland
Student Riding Championships, to be held at Gurteen Agricultural College,
Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.

The Championships are scheduled to run from February 22-24 inclusive, and
will include Dressage, Show Jumping, (both team and individual), and Prix
Caprilli (team only).

Run by the the Athlone Institute of Technology and Gurteen Agricultural
College, the intervarsities operate under the rules of IURCA (The Irish
Universities Riding Clubs Association) which is an affiliate member of the
Equestrian Federation of Ireland.

Prizes will be given for both individual and team performances in each
discipline, with each competition combining to provide an overall top
university award.

In both the show jumping and dressage competitions, student riders compete
according to the knock-out system. This means that two or three riders
compete against one another on the same horse, and the rider who achieves
the highest points on that horse goes through to the next round.
