Baileys Horse Feeds

Refreshingly Effective!

New from Baileys Horse Feeds, No.17 Top Line Conditioning Mix has been developed for those horse owners who need a non-heating feed to put weight and condition on their horses and ponies and who prefer to feed a coarse mix.

horse Top Line Conditioning Mix is a highly digestible blend of micronised grains, oils and fibre and is fully balanced so can be fed as the only concentrate source. Alfalfa and soya provide quality protein for muscle development and function whilst optimum levels of vitamins and chelated mineral are included for a healthy coat, hooves and immune system.

A yeast culture is also included, whose benefits to hind gut function are now widely recognised. Poor-doers may be prone to loose droppings as a result of food passing through too quickly with fewer nutrients being absorbed. Improving hind gut function and, therefore, fibre digestion can slow the overall passage of feed through the system thus allowing more nutrients to be taken up along the way.

“Horses have been found to be particularly good digesters of oil which is an ideal energy source for increased stamina,” says Liz Bulbrook, Senior Nutritionist at Baileys. “Its inclusion in Top Line Conditioning Mix means that the calorie content of the ration can be increased without significant increases in the volume, at the same time avoiding the feeding of excessive levels of starch. So it’s perfect for horses with limited appetites or those requiring high levels of energy for competition, without the heating effects of oat-based performance mixes.”

“Our extensive trials have highlighted major benefits such as the fact that it is non-heating, and that, unlike many other “weight gain” or “conditioning” mixes, it doesn’t have to be fed in vast quantities to make a difference. One trial member commented that it was ‘refreshing’ to find a product that really is so effective” says Liz. “We liked the sound of that!!”

Baileys No.17 Top Line Conditioning Mix is available from the end of February in 20kg bags.
