DATE OF THE WORLD CUP DRESSAGE FINAL CONFIRMED
> The World Cup Dressage final in Vilhelmsborg Castle near Aarhus (DEN) will
be held at the originally planned date, i.e. 5-7 April 2001.
After the withdrawal of the Brazilian Organising Committee, the Final has been
re-allocated to Denmark at the beginning of the month.
GANDINI IS THE NEW SPONSOR OF THE JUMPING RIDERS
RANKINGS
The FEI and the Italian company Gandini recently signed a four-year cooperation
agreement for the marketing, publication and promotion of the FEI World Jumping
Riders Rankings.
The calculation and production of the rankings will be done by the FEI. The
FEI/Gandini World Jumping Riders Rankings will be published once a month. The
ranking list begins on the 1st January each year with the carry over of the
total number of points, which have been accumulated during the previous year
until the 31 December. At the end of each month the points earned during that
month are added to the list. The points from the same month the previous year
are dropped from the list (see complete rules published in FEI Press News 01/01
and Bulletin 1/2001)
A special competition, open for the best riders of the rankings, plus one wild
card, will be organised at the end of each year. This "FEI/Gandini World
Jumping Rankings Final" will be organised during of one of the top-level
show jumping event, selected by both the FEI and Gandini.
Gandini High Fashion Fabrics was founded in 1925 and is active in the creation
and design of high-quality fabrics for the most famous couturiers of the world.
Gandini supports the International Jumping Riders Club. Under Gandini's colour,
the young Brazilian Rodrigo Pessoa became World Champion.
FIRST 2001 FEI/GANDINI WORLD JUMPING RANKINGS:
LUDGER BEERBAUM IS WORLD NUMBER ONE
Olympic Team Gold medallist, Ludger Beerbaum is the Number one in the first
ranking list of the year, calculated according to the new formula. Thanks to
his good and regular results, throughout 2000, Beerbaum takes the lead in the
rankings. As explained in FEI Press News 1/01, there is no longer a limit to
the number of results taken into account per year. The rankings are published
on the FEI website www.horsesport.org section consult/results.
With a simple click, you can have access for each rider to the breakdown of
points awarded in each competitions counting for the rankings. The number of
points to be dropped the next month is displayed in a separate column.
There were very few changes in the Top Ten at the end of January, compared to
the List 0, compiling all 2000 results, which was published early January. In
fact, only few events counting for the rankings, i.e. three World Cup events of
the Pacific League and the CSI-A Neustadt were held in January 2001.
There should be an exciting fight among the Top 10 riders in February, as many
points earned in February 2000 will be dropped from their "account" a
the end of the month. Among the important competitions scheduled for February
2001 are CSI-A Zurich (SUI) this coming week-end, CSI-W Bordeaux (FRA) and
CSI-A Neumünster (GER).

MEDICATION CONTROL PROGRAMME : DRUG TESTING SERVICE
The contract between the FEI and the Horseracing Forensic Laboratory (HFL)
(GBR) comes to an end on 30 June 2001. As is the practice, laboratories
situated in the MCP area were invited to tender for the contract, which will
commence on 1 July 2001. After examination of the tenders received by the
Medication Sub-Committee, and the FEI Secretary General, the following
laboratory has been appointed for the period 1 July 2001 to 30 June 2005:
L.A.B. Fédération Nationale des Courses Françaises

92290 Chatenay-Malbry, FRANCE
Tel : (331) 47 02 91 48 / Fax : (331) 47 02 34 00
The above decision in no way reflects on the professional capabilities of HFL,
with whom the FEI enjoyed a long and successful relationship for many years.
