Incredible Public Demand Brings

Jean Francois Pignon Back to star at

Horse of the Year Show 2000

27th Sept – 1st Oct, Wembley Arena

‘The best equestrian display ever to visit this country’

Horse and Hound Editor, Arnold Garvey

Following the rapturous and unprecedented response he received last year, Horse of the Year Show organisers are delighted to announce that Jean Francois Pignon and his beautiful white horses will be returning with an all new show. This will be his only UK performance in 2000.

Channel 4 Racing commented: “If you see it advertised anywhere, you must see this mesmerising display of trust and skill … one can only marvel at the months and years that have gone into it.” Johnny Francombe added, “It is a performance really worth going to watch … a really wonderful show.”

Jean Francois Pignon says: “It will be a great honour to return to Horse of the Year Show this year, having received such a fantastic reaction at last year’s show. The response was truly incredible and the best I have experienced across Europe. The audience was amazing, with their standing ovations and all the autograph hunters. It made the whole show very special to me.

“This response from the British public has spurred me on to create an exclusive show for the Horse of the Year Show 2000 and I am really looking forward to returning in September.”

As well as fiercely contested competition events, Horse of the Year 2000 organisers are planning an exceptional display of equestrian talent. Three dazzling displays will demonstrate the speed, agility, versatility, grace and nobility of the horse.

To compliment the unusual skills of Jean Francois Pignon, the Mounted Police Activity Ride comes to Wembely for the very first time, whilst a group of young Pony Club members presents a unique display, exclusively choreographed for HOYS 2000.

JEAN FRANCOIS PIGNON: is returning with an awe-inspiring, brand new display. His unbelievable bond with his horses totally enthralled and fascinated last years HOYS audience and the unprecedented reaction made the show’s organisers determined to bring him back to the UK. His unique performance of breathtaking stunts with his much-loved horses is a culmination of total dedication and hard work. Visitors will be treated to magical scenes, never seen before in the UK, which Jean Francois and his horses have dedicated this year to developing and perfecting.

METROPOLITAN POLICE: the high-speed, thrilling Activity Ride of the Metropolitan Police demonstrates the horses’ amazing ability to handle complex and difficult circumstances. During the display, horses and riders negotiate a series of 95 small fences in under 10 minutes. The horses also show their complete confidence by jumping through fire and a paper hoop. Whilst the horses jump, the riders demonstrate their skills by removing and replacing their jackets, taking off their stirrup irons and, finally, their saddles. The display is led by Inspector Alan Hiscox who is the Training Manager for the Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch and is responsible for preparing horses and riders for their daily which include crime patrols, football matches and large sports events , pop concerts ceremonials and public order demonstrations. The Metropolitan Police, assisted by Peugeot, will also be promoting equestrian road safety at the show with a display in the equestrian feature area.

THE PONY CLUB: a ‘very British’ miniature military display to delight audiences by a team of young Pony Club members. They are currently keeping their display plans under wraps but it is set to be a fun and entertaining spectacle. Tim Spencer-Cox, Chairman of the Pony club comments: “It is a great honour for these young children to appear at the Horse of the Year Show. They are absolutely thrilled and very excited to be at such a prestigious show.”
