Top Paint Horses to be sold during 2001 World Championship Paint Horse

FORT WORTH, Texas-Some of the highest-quality
American Paint Horses on the market take center stage during the American Paint
Horse Association (APHA) World Showcase Sales, to be held June 30 and July 1 in
Fort Worth, Texas. Held in conjunction with the 2001 World Championship Paint
Horse Show, the sale will include yearlings, geldings, stallions and mares.

Horses will take center stage at the World Showcase Sales, to be held in
conjunction with the World Championship Paint Horse Show in Fort Show.

The sales will take place in the Will Rogers
Memorial Center West Sale Arena. Horses will be previewed in the John Justin
Arena on the morning of their respective sale days.
Following are dates and highlights of the upcoming sales:
Gelding Session, June 30, Noon
Quality, performance-bred geldings of all ages will be featured during this
session. The average gelding sold for $7,022 in 2000. Indigo Blue was the
highest-selling gelding that year, bringing $35,000.
Horses may be previewed at 9 a.m.
Elite 25 Yearling Session, June 30, (immediately following the Gelding
Session)
In response to the significant interest in yearlings at the 2000 World Showcase
Sales, APHA will host a sale featuring 25 elite yearling colts and fillies.
Last year, 18 yearlings averaged $7,028 at the sale, with Strait Texas Win the
high seller at $30,750.
Prospective buyers may take an advance look at the yearlings following the
gelding preview.
Mare and Stallion Session, July 1, 1 p.m.
High-quality performance and breeding horses will be the focus of attention
for the Mare and Stallion Session. In 2000, sales averaged $9,519 for stallions
and $6,818 for mares. The high seller was a mare, Awesome Sensation, who
brought $33,000.
Horses may be previewed at 10 a.m.

APHA Assistant Executive Secretary Jim Kelley, who plans and coordinates
the sales, said the sessions have traditionally attracted standing-room-only
crowds of interested buyers.
"It is obvious that the sale has earned the reputation of being the
premier place to buy Paint Horses," said Kelley. "The overall quality
of the horses has improved every year, due in part to the rigid screening
process these horses go through."
He said Paint Horses available at the sale are evaluated for performance,
pedigree, conformation and marketability.
"We are committed to offering the best set of horses we can possibly put
together for these sales," said Kelley. "People have come to count on
us to do that, and we will continue to meet their expectations."
