Gran Premio di Milano, Gr.1, 3y.o. and older, metri 2.400
Also ran: Kumhar, Forest Buck, Rio Napo and Apollo Wells. Distances: 5,5 l, 4l, 1/2l. Time : 2. 28. 6/10 Analysis : Effecting a wire to wire course, Endless Hall, very neglected at betting (15/1), prevailed in Gran Premio of Milan, year 2000, leaving at 5 and a half lengths the counter favourite at 2, Catella, and coming back to triumph on the same track and on the same distance where he captured the Gran Premio dItalia, listed, a year ago. Endless hall, owned by the President of Italian Association of Throughbred Breeders (A.N.A.C.), lawyer Alberto Moro Visconti, was not very followed by punters since he had carried out two not successful performances, all at San Siro track, but on very mud going and on shorter distances (10 and 8 furlongs, respectively). Moreover the two German representatives (2nd and 4th at the finish) and the Parisian Spendent, were surely in possess of best performances at the track. Endless Hall is the first breed, in Italy, out Endless Joy, bought, just covered by Saddlers Hall, at December Sales 95 by Mrs. Isabella Bezzera (for Scuderia Blueberry) for 67.000 Guineas, amount justified by performances of remarkable value (winner of two races at 2 years, including Hennessy X.O. Killavullen Stakes, Gr.3, Leopardstown; placed three times, always in listed, in Great Britain and Ireland) and by a pedigree of valuable level. Endless Joy is bred by Law Society, quite good, even if a little temperamental, Ribot's heir; while the previous father is the greatest Northern Dancer and the still preceding one is the exceptional race horse Secretariat, a little disappointing as males father but already well standing as father of mares. The female line (fam. 5h), American, is that of Thatch, a very successful stallion. The fourth mare of Endless Hall, Lisadell, is full sister of the latter. Then, in December 1995, was still appreciable also the Saddler Hall cover, a first rate stayer, winner of Coronation Cup, Gr1, retired to stud in 1993, while today is less taken in account since the Coolmore Stud moved him to National Hunt Division, because of the weak support of English commercial breeder. And Endless Hall, with a pedigree so clearly set out on stout and classic blood lines (aptitudinal diagram, according to Varola: 55,5/59/132/134/51; Consistency Index of 6,77) perfectly explains the right development of this genealogical trend, that is not at all appreciated by breeders and owners who love precocity. Remarkable in Endless Hall pedigree is the 3x3 Northern Dancer inbred , 3rd father and grandfather of Saddlers Hall, while the inbred 5x5 on the brilliant chef de race Bold Ruler is, really, a 4x4 inbred of Endless Hall mother, Endless Joy. Also the cross Northern Dancer on Ribot, from which is achieved the Gran Premio of Milan winner, must be pointed out. The Italian fans of thoroughbred, particularly of Endless Hall, hope that in autumn Endless Hall can confirm this unexpected victory and qualify as a genuine international first level racing horse.
