FEI/GANDINI FINAL WILL BE IN GENEVA (SUI)
The first FEI/Gandini Final will be held in conjunction with CSI-W Geneva from
6 to 9 December 2001. The Final, which formula is still to be finalised, will
feature the Top Ten of the FEI/Gandini World Jumping Riders Rankings.
Scheduled on Saturday evening, the first FEI/Gandini Final will not only offer
a prestigious victory for the winner, but also a prize money of 200.000 Swiss
francs thanks to the generous support of Gandini, sponsor of the FEI Jumping
Rankings and of the International Riders Club, and Rolex, long time partner of
CSI-W Geneva. For the first time, the 41st edition of CSI-W Geneva
will have more than half a million Swiss francs prize money in total.
FEI WALDFRIED EURO FUTURE CUP
The FEI is very pleased to announce that an agreement has been signed between
the FEI and Waldfried Dressage Stables in terms of which Waldfried will support
the Young Rider Dressage Series known as the Euro Future Cup.
The aim of the series is the development of Dressage in Europe in line with the
view that young riders should meet and compete against each other across the
borders at first-class international horse shows. The project was taken up with
great enthusiasm by the Waldfried Dressage Stables. Together with the FEI,
Waldfried as title sponsor will support the FEI Waldfried Euro Future Cup.
The series, which had been brought to life in 1998, plays an important role for
the 16 to 21 year old Young Riders. Its value is stressed by the FEI by the
fact that the schedule includes, besides the individual classification, also a
team competition and ranking of the nations. Due to the high profile events and
FEI promotion, organisers from all over Europe including potentially Greece
(host of the 2004 Olympics) have applied to hold a qualifier of the FEI
Waldfried Euro Future Cup. This proves that the idea and the wish to strengthen
Dressage in Europe are bearing first fruits.
The Calendar of events for the year 2001 is as follows:
Münster (GER) 25 - 28 January
St-Nizier (FRA) 24 - 27 May
Hickstead (GBR)23 - 26 August
Lipica (SLO)14 - 16 September
Wanroij (NED)01 - 04 November
Frankfurt (GER)14 - 16 December (Final)
Therefore, Germany will not necessarily be the centre of the competitions;
however, the series will have its crowning highlight when the Final is held
during the International Festhallen-Reitturnier at Frankfurt am Main (GER) in
December. In this international horse show Waldfried acts as co-organiser. The
FEI Waldfried Euro Future Cup aims to become the 'World Cup' for Young Riders.
The results of the events held in Münster (GER) and St Nizier (FRA) will
count for the purposes of the standings list.Waldfried Dressage Stables is a
branch of the German company, SLB Sport- und Leistungsanlagenbau-
Betriebsgesellschaft GmbH and will sponsor the Euro Future Cup for a minimum of
two years. The development of Dressage in Europe will most certainly benefit
greatly from the generous support offered by Waldfried.
EUROPEAN EVENTING OPEN FORUM IN LUHMUELEN (GER)
The European Eventing Forum, initially due to take place in Badminton, will be
organised in conjunction with the CCI***/CIC** in Lumühlen (GER).
The Forum will take place on Friday 6 July 2001 at 5 pm, on the show ground, in
the tent located next to the Dressage arena.
After San Francisco and Kentucky (USA), this will be the third Forum organised
by the Eventing Committee to gather opinions on the future of the discipline.

SAMSUNG NATIONS CUPS IN MODENA (ITA) AND LISBON (POR)
A convincing victory at the 11th round of the Nations Cup series in Lisbon,
Portugal on 10 June 2001returnedItaly to the head of the Samsung League
leaderboard as a rock-solid performance from three of the four team members
left the opposition trailing in their wake.
Italy, on a final score of 4 faults, was first, while Britain had to settle for
runner-up spot on 13, ahead of Switerland in third on 16and the Irish in fourth
carrying 24. Belgium were fifth ahead of France in sixth but Germany, Mexico,
Spain and the home side from Portugal failed to make the cut into the second
round.
In Modena, two days earlier on 8 June, Germany's Ludger Beerbaum snatched
victory from the jaws of defeat in the thrilling final moments of the Samsung
Nations Cup, but the Irish showed that they are right back on form when beaten
only on time in one of the most exciting Nations Cup clashes for some time.
Germany finished first with 8 faults and 218.94 seconds, Ireland second with 8
faults in 225.02 seconds and the Netherlands third with 26 faults.

Veteran European Cup Final in Karlsruhe (Ger):
Fifty-three veteran riders from 9 nations will fight for the Veteran European
Cup Final title in Karlsruhe, from today until 17 June. These riders have
qualified over 8 qualifiers through Europe. Considering the results of the
circuit, one can expect an interesting battle between the English female
riders, the Germans, the Swiss and the Belgians.
The Swiss rider Theo Muff, who won the Grand Prix at Cervia, was the easy
winner of the qualifiers series with almost 50 points ahead of Belgian Rony
Deloof. Muff is, of course, the big favourite of this European Cup, but two
English ladies, Pat Crann (winner at Barcelona) and Bina Ford (winner at La
Baule this month).
The VJR series is the opportunity for veteran riders (females over 45 and males
over 49) to ride on some of the nicest places in Europe. The courses are over
