New Amateur Association

For the Good of the Breed: American Amateur Arabian Horse Association Seeing a common need for the amateur owners of Arabian horses to form a separate association for the promotion of the Arabian horse as a family recreational mount, a group of Arabian horse owners, breeders and amateur trainers came together in Nashville Tennessee in late April of this year to discuss what action they could take to meet the needs of Arabian owners like themselves. The result was the formation of a national association for the encouragement of Amateur activities and entry level opportunities for beginning and long time Arabian horse owners. Enthusiastically named "The American Amateur Arabian Horse Association" by the nine attendees from allacross the country, The goal of the group is to help family recreational riders of Arabian horses get together, learn, and enjoy the Arabian horse in low cost, low key shows and events.

AAAHA has adopted the tried and true by-laws and customs of their mentors, the 25 year old Eastern Amateur Arabian Show Circuit, with few modifications. The Association will keep Eastern Amateur's successful and popular tradition of not allowing professional trainers in the showring area and prohibiting their participation in preparation of the horse and rider on the showgrounds before, during and after the show. The modifications of the established rules of the original group are under discussion in some areas of showing to place more emphasis on the well being of the horse in all aspects of use. It is the intent of the group to put the best interests ofthe horse before any other consideration.

Professionals are invited and encouraged to support the amateur circuit by becoming an Associate member, an approved judge, guest speaker, provide seminars or other events to be held on non-show days.

Now registered as a Not-For-Profit national organization, The American Amateur Arabian Horse Association invites anyone who might be interested in learning more to contact us at: 770-682-9770.
