Bank Holiday Monday 28 August 2000

The Potential Young Event Horse Class and Showcase Sale at The Festival of the Horse 2000 at Highclere Castle, Newbury on Bank Holiday Monday has attracted over 35 quality entrants. Of the 26+ Young Event Horse entries, six will go on to be shown for sale – along with over nine others - in the British Horse Database Showcase.

Multiple entries have been submitted from Catherston Stud and Jane Holderness-Roddam’s West Kington Stud for both events with many other top individual riders and breeders represented, including Dag Albert and Mrs Sam Albert.

The highly experienced panel of judges for the Young Event Horse Class includes: Sue Benson (Jumping); Jo Chapman (Dressage); equine vet Mike O’Gorman (Conformation) and international dealer, Susie Pragnall.

The British Horse Database Showcase will provide an ideal opportunity for potential buyers of sport horses to meet sellers showing their horses in a competitive environment. It is open to horses of 4,5 and 6 years old, all to be ridden and is designed to encourage private purchases through direct negotiation with sellers, immediately after the class. Facilities will be arranged for buyers to try out the horses.

The Young Event Horse Class will take place at 10am; with the final at 3pm in the main arena. Entrants in the British Horse Database Showcase Sale will parade in the main arena at 3.30pm with the Sale taking place immediately after in the Horse Trials area.
