New web-based course launches with over 60 students
The first module of
the Equine Science Certificate, Equine Management, opened in May with
over 60 students enrolled! This unique mode of learning offers the industry
research-driven education in a multidimensional format. The course incorporates
traditional text book learning with state-of-the-art web interaction.
Students communicate on-line with other students as
well as an instructor. The course uses video and CD Rom to introduce each
section using a typical student, Chris, who sets the stage
and provides direction through each exercise. This practical approach
incorporates the latest research in horse care for students
wanting to learn more about horse housing, seasonal, environmental and
arena management. The course includes assignements and quizzes in each
section. This is the first module of six offered for the Equine Science
Certificate. Students completing all the modules with an
average of 75% or more are recognized with honours.
The Equine Science Certificate is a collaboration among the Equine Research
Centre (Guelph) Inc., the award-winning office of Open Learning at the
University of Guelph and CanAdapt. For more details visit www.equinesciencecertificate.com.
