FEI WORLD CUP JUMPING FINAL IN MILAN
There is only a bit more than 50 days to go before the FEI World
Cup Jumping Final which will be held in Milan (Italy). For the
first time of the over twenty-years-long history of the FEI Jumping
World Cup the 2004 final will take place in Italy where, from
21 to 24 April, the world's best riders and horses will compete
in the arena of the Forum of Assago, located in the outskirts
of Milan, some 15 minutes from the city centre. Started in 1979,
the World Cup Final is an annual showdown among the top international
riders. Approximately 45 riders, including many past and future
Olympians, qualify from 13 leagues around the world.
The 2004 FEI Jumping World Cup finals will be organised by the
Italian National Equestrian Federation (FISE) in conjunctions
with Media Partners and MKA, two experienced organisers of events
that have been partners of FISE for the last few years in the
organisation of the CSIO of Rome - Piazza di Siena.
Since a few days from the official opening of the Box Office of
the 2004 FEI Jumping World Cup Final is very successful. In order
to book tickets, memberships or to reserve exclusive seats at
the VIP tables overlooking the competition ring, a dedicated phone
line is now available: +39 06 638 3818. Bookings are welcomed

FEI WORLD CUP DRESSAGE
The Road to Duesseldorf - Into The Home Straight
The penultimate qualifying round of the FEI World Cup Dressage
Western European League takes place at Neumunster, Germany this
weekend, where fans are due another top quality 'dressage feast'.
As expected, entries are dominated by a strong German contingent.
Heike Kemmer can sit this one out as she is still sitting pretty
at the top of the points standings after two wins, one second
and a third place this season. Berlin winner Hubertus Schmidt,
former title winner Isabell Werth and Ann-Kathrin Linsenhof are
all out to increase their hold, as only two more German riders
will be able to compete at the Duesseldorf final (a maximum of
three per nation are eligible).
Talented Danish rider Nicole Ahlefedt Laurwig-Lehn, currently
in ninth place in the standing, and Sweden's Louise Nathhorst,
another former titleholder in eighth, are entered for Neumunster
and can take advantage of the opportunity to gain points and move
up the standings past the absent contingent of strongly placed
Dutch riders.
For British star Emma Hindle, the Dutch absence should enable
her to regain second place in the standings, as she restarts her
season after giving her horses a rest.
Russia's Elena Sidneva is having a run here, but as the winner
of the FEI World Cup Central European League, she is already qualified
for the Final, which takes place in Dusseldorf from 1-4 April.

DRIVING
Freund invincible in Vigo
Michael Freund has turned out to be invincible during the two
FEI World Cup Driving events which were held last week-end in
Vigo, Spain. After Bordeaux dropped out of the World Cup Driving
circuit, Vigo offered to host two instead of one World Cup event.
Freund won the warm up competition and both World Cup competitions.
The challenge however, came from an unexpected corner this time.
In the warm up competition and the second World Cup, it was Mechelen-winner
Gert Schrijvers who came very close to Freund's time. In the first
World Cup, Hungarian driver Jozsef Dobrovitz made only one fault
and even though he could not compete with Freund¹s time,
the Hungarian driver ended on a deserved second place. Boyd Exell,
driving a team of German warmbloods and Orlov trotters owned by
Michael Freund, finished third in all three competitions, consistently
having three faults and nearly finishing in the same time in all
three rounds.
The next leg of the FEI World Cup Driving will take place in 's-Hertogenbosch,
the Netherlands, on 28 March 2004. website www.indoorbrabant.nl
