Isla Carroll, Catamount Register Wins In Hall Of Fame
Polo Wednesday At International Polo Club Palm Beach

WELLINGTON, Florida – Eight-goaler Pancho Bensadon converted a 30-yard penalty shot with 38 seconds remaining to lift Isla Carroll over C Spear 11-10 in a 22-goal Hall of Fame Cup polo match Wednesday at International Polo Club Palm Beach.

In other Hall of Fame Cup action, 10-goaler Mike Azzaro and 9-goaler Carlos Gracida scored four goals each to lead Catamount over Black Watch 9-8 and Everglades defeated Orchard Hill 6-3.

Isla Carroll (3-1) and C Spear (0-4) took turns dominating play in the second half. C Spear scored three unanswered goals in the fourth chukker to forge a 7-7 tie. Isla Carroll responded with three consecutive goals in the fifth chukker to take a 10-7 lead. In the sixth chukker, C Spear scored three straight goals to tie the game at 10-10, the fourth tie of the contest.

Bansadon finished with a game-high eight goals to lead Isla Carroll while Tomas del Rio scored two goals and Sugar Erskine had one goal. Patron John Goodman did not score.

C Spear patron Tommy Boyle scored a team-high four goals while Matias Magrini added three goals, Paco de Narvaez had two goals and substitute Toby Wayman had one goal.

Facundo Pieres scored four goals to lead Black Watch (0-3) while Nacho Novillo Astrada added two goals and Nacho Figueras and patron Neil Hirsch had one goal apiece. Patron Skeeter Johnston, Tomas Llorente and Owen Rinehart scored two goals each to lead Everglades (2-1). Julio Arellano scored all three goals for Orchard Hill (0-3).

Seventeen teams entered the tournament. The Hall of Fame Cup final is Sunday, February 29 at 3 p.m. at the International Polo Club Palm Beach stadium.

From Florida’s Turnpike, take Exit 93 (Lake Worth Road) and go west about six miles. Make a right onto 120th Avenue South. The club is on the left.
