117· Premio Pisa,
Also run: 5· Diablos Lad, Monarchiste, Smohalla, Breaking Out, Kerouac, Walk on Top. Distances: 5l, short head, 2l and a quarter, 5l. Not very favourite because of his previous results at San Rossore track, Lupescu won an easy race, taking advantage of his aptitude for the ground and of jockeys good choice, who employed him on the outside, in a non newly-dug strip of ground. Lupescu is a son of the sire Common Grounds, already exported to Turkey from 1999, and out Lupetta, bay, 1990, bred by SIBA Stable Spa too, a daughter by Caerleon and out Tuca Tuca (USA), by Miswaki. Therefore Lupescu is the result of the well known crossbred Native Dancer (European sire line of Atan Sharpen Up Kris) on Northern Dancer, with third father again by Native Dancer.
