Steve Haskin and Skip Dickstein Win Preakness Media Awards

LEXINGTON, KY – Blood-Horse Publications is pleased to announce that two editorial contributors of The Blood-Horse magazine, the company’s flagship publication, have been announced as winners of this year’s Preakness media awards. The prestigious Old Hilltop Award will be presented to Steve Haskin, senior correspondent for The Blood-Horse, for his many years of distinguished coverage of racing. In addition, photographer Skip Dickstein, a longtime contributor to the magazine's major race coverage, is the winner of the Nikon Preakness Photo Award. Dickstein captured War Emblem and jockey Victor Espinoza’s focus on the finish line en route to their victory in the 2002 Preakness.

The winners were announced by The Maryland Jockey Club on April 21. Haskin and Dickstein will be recognized and will receive their respective awards at the May 15 Alibi Breakfast in the Terrace Dining Room at Pimlico. The presentation ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. two days prior to the Preakness. ESPN’s Chris Lincoln will act as the master of ceremonies.

"Steve and Skip are both outstanding contributors with a passion for the sport," noted Ray Paulick, editor in chief of The Blood-Horse. "They are true war horses in our Triple Crown coverage and for them it’s a labor of love."

The Blood-Horse is the Thoroughbred industry’s premier source for racing and breeding news and information, and the oldest continually published North American Thoroughbred magazine. Blood-Horse Publications also publishes The Horse, a monthly equine health care magazine; the official Kentucky Derby and World Thoroughbred Championships/Breeders' Cup souvenir magazines; Auction Edge; Keeneland magazine; and the Eclipse Awards program. In addition, Blood-Horse Publications also operates Eclipse Press, its award-winning book publishing division, and operates a family of leading Web sites including bloodhorse.com and TheHorse.com.
