Jumping - Irish Pair In Top Five At La Baule Jump-Off |
IRISH
RIDERS kept up the pressure at La Baule, France, this afternoon,
following Cian O'Connor's win in this morning's speed class.
O'Connor
again put in a sterling performance in the big jump-off class, the
PRIX DIANE BARRIERE DESSEIGNE, leading the field until French and
Italian aces Michel Robert and Bruno Chimirri shaved seconds off
Irish Independent Casper's time of 44.40.
Billy
Twomey on his new mount <Luidam>, took fifth in the same class,
with another double clear and a time of 44.89.
The
Nations Cup competition - first in the 2003 Superleague - takes
place on Sunday.
<<We're
up against some very stiff opposition here, >> said 23 yr-old
Kildare-born O'Connor after his jump-off class this evening, <<but
our confidence is building. Nations Cup points on Sunday are essential
to keep us in this race.>>
