The BHS TREC Scottish Championships 2004

Kathy Wilding from Shropshire and her horse Trojan continued their recent good form to take the Level 4 title at the BHS TREC Scottish Championships held last weekend (3-4 July) at Peelham Cross Country near Berwick upon Tweed. Kathy was following up wins at her last two outings, proving unstoppable over the three phases and two days of this event, reinforcing her claim for a place in the British Team for the World TREC Championships in September

Runner up in the Level 4 class Hilary Barnard from Bristol, riding Harvey, a New Forest pony, came close to taking the title with the highest score of the weekend in the PTV obstacle phase -an amazing 148 points!

In the Level 3 group Sue Perks from Kinver, Worcestershire, won the Individual group. With a win in the same class at the Welsh Championships last month, Sue is proving to be a tough competitor to beat. Will she 'complete the treble' at the English Championships later this month? Only time will tell.

The Level 3 Pairs saw 'The Soul Survivors', Sarah Thurnell and Sarah Constantine, East Midlands, achieve a convincing win over rivals "Men plus One". And in the Ashby House Young Riders Level 3 group, the current European Young Riders Champion, Kate Ellison from Ayrshire put in a sterling performance to take the title.

Scottish rider Heather Adam, did her bit for her country with a win in the Argyll Trail Riding Level 2 Individual class, and in the Pairs group Jayne Edge and Vivienne Little defended their title from last year to yet again take victory in this class.

BHS Borders Chairman, Virginia Scott-Watson, who presented the prizes said, "What a wonderful weekend! It was fantastic to see so many competitors making the effort to take part in what is, really, a unique competition. I would like to thank the sponsors, organisers and volunteers for enabling this competition to take place."
