horse Dramatic Increase To Burghley Prize Fund

Added interest will be created in the outcome of this year’s premier Autumn Eventing fixture, Burghley Horse Trials (2nd-5th September), Stamford, Lincolnshire with the news that this year’s prize money is to benefit from dramatic increases of up to 50%.

Event Director Andrew Tulloch has announced that this year’s winner will benefit from a 20% increase to the first prize bringing it to £30,000, with the overall prize fund rising to nearly £120,000*. Increases will take place across the board with those finishing 13th or below* receiving £1,000 each, more than twice as much as previously.

Commenting on the announcement Mr. Tulloch said: “Burghley is the premier event in the world in the second half of the season and it is important that owners and riders receive rewards that reflect the stature of the Event. But this increase is just a part of our ongoing aim of ensuring that Burghley as a whole is the best event in the world at which to be an owner, a rider or a spectator.”

In addition to providing the first chance to see the top riders after the Olympics, visitors to Burghley will be able to enjoy the finest shopping of any outdoor show in the country with over 400 top retail outlets. There will also be the opportunity to see some exciting additional attractions during the course of the Event such as Richard Davison’s Dressage to Music, the Burghley Strongid-P Pony Club Team Jumping on Thursday and the finals of the Winergy Burghley Young Event Horse Series on Friday.

For those looking to understand their horse still further, watch out for the Parelli demonstration. Additional competitions will include the P(UK) Burghley Event Pony and two diverse driving competitions in the Osborne Refrigerators Scurry Driving Competition and the BDS Championships and Concours d’Elegance.

Attractive discounts are available for some tickets booked in advance and all accompanied children aged 12 and under enter the showground free of charge. So plan ahead, take advantage and book early to make sure you enjoy what promises to be the biggest and best Burghley ever.
