Newly Crowned “Miss Teen U.S. Continental” To Make Trophy Presentations At The 119TH National Horse Show

Wellington, Florida---November 25, 2002---The 119th National Horse Show will open tomorrow at The Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington and will run through December 1, 2002. The National, founded in 1883, is the oldest and most prestigious horse show in the U.S., bringing together the best horses and riders in the equestrian world.

The National maintains an historic collection of trophies, acquired over its 119 years, passed down from generation to generation. At the conclusion of each division, there is a formal presentation of one of these grand trophies to the winning horse and rider. After the presentation, the names of the winning team are engraved on the trophy, although the trophy itself continues to reside with The National.

On Sunday, December 1, 2002, the newly crowned “Miss Teen U.S. Continental”, Rebecca Stone, will visit The National and make some of the day’s trophy presentations in The International Arena. Miss Stone, of Davie, Florida, is also “Miss Florida” and will be taping an interview with “Good Morning America” on Friday and Saturday prior to flying down for The National.

Competition in The International Arena on Sunday will be among the best of the week: such as, The $100,000 National Horse Show Jumper Championship, open to the best 30 jumper horses and riders of the week, where points, in addition to money, will be awarded towards the annual World Cup Competition to be held in Las Vegas in April, 2003.

The 119th National Horse Show runs Tuesday, November 26, through Sunday, December 1, with competition beginning at 8:00am and continuing throughout each day. Friday evening “Jumping Under the Stars” competition begins at 7:00 pm. Tickets are: Tuesday through Saturday $10/adult, $7/seniors, children 12 & under free, Sunday, $15/adult, $7/senior, children 12 & under free. Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, admission is free to all.
