Show Jumping Hall of Fame Announces Series Winners

Tampa, FL—November 27, 2002—After an exciting year of competition in both the East and West Conferences, the Show Jumping Hall of Fame has announced its 2002 Jumper Classic Series winners.

The 2002 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series, sponsored in part by a grant from the National Horse Sports Foundation (NHSF), featured 41 member events in the East Conference and 19 member events in the West, giving competitors an abundance of opportunities to accumulate points throughout the year.

In the East, siblings Maggie and Charlie Jayne, of Elgin, IL, dominated the junior division, taking the top three positions. Maggie Jayne of Elgin, IL, in her last year as a junior rider, finished the year in first place with 206 points aboard Jubulent, edging out her brother Charlie, who finished with 203 points riding Melbourne. Maggie also took the third spot aboard Kinda Blue with a total of 190 points.

Maggie and Jubulent made appearances in the winner’s circle at the Showplace Fall Classic in Wayne, IL, Equifest II, also in Wayne, IL, and the I Love New York Horse Show in Lake Placid, NY.

In the amateur-owner division, Marilyn Little of Frederick, MD, and Corrada proved themselves unbeatable this year, taking top honors with 121 points. Little and Corrada dominated the Conference all year, never faltering from her position at the top of the standings. The pair claimed wins at the Upperville Colt & Horse Show, the Kentucky Spring Classic, and the Cosequin Wellington Finale.

Danielle Torano of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Von Pilot finished in second place with 76 points, and in third with 71 points was Jonathan Phillips of Potomac, MD, riding Jewel’s Idaim.

In the West Conference, Shelby Walter of Beverly Hills, CA, and Xstatic topped the junior division standings with a year-end total of 96 points. Walter had a big victory earlier in the year when she bested a field of 21 riders to win the Nutrena Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, a combined class held at the Oaks Blenheim National in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

With 65 points, Andrew Ramsay of Oakland, CA, rode Lisa to a second place finish in the Series. Finishing in third place, Nicole Albertson of Hidden Hills, CA, earned 44 points aboard Khomedian.
