Rider Seventh In World Cup Qualifier - San Patrignano Italy
Irish international dressage rider Anna Merveldt-Steffens riding
the 15 year old Westphalian gelding Fosbury scored 69.41% to place
seventh in the World Cup Qualifier at the San Patrignano CDI-W in
Italy, this afternoon (26th January 2003).
German rider Monica Theodorescu scored a double by winning the World
Cup Qualifier with Renaissance Fleur TSF having picked up first
prize in the Grand Prix class the day before. Heike Kemmer also
from Germany placed second in the Grand Prix Kur (Freestyle to Music)
World Cup class with Alabano 7 having earlier scored a double with
her other horse Ferragamo 3 by taking first prize in both the Prix
St Georges and Intermediare 1 Kur classes. Merveldt-Steffens placed
second behind Kemmer in both these classes with the 10 year old
Weltmeyer mare Hera. The Irish rider moved up an impressive 39 places
to 60th place in the FEI/BCM World Dressage Rankings at the start
of this month and another move up the rankings is on the cards after
her performance in the World Cup class in Italy today.
