snapshot of some famous faces at Equus 2003

A huge list of celebrities, of the two-legged and four-legged variety,
can be seen at Equus 2003. It really is a showcase for the exciting
world of horses; - leading riders will be demonstrating a wide variety
of disciplines; including show jumping, dressage, showing, western
riding, polo, vaulting and side-saddle. In addition there are specialist
horse trainers, displays to music and even stunt riding.

Silke
from Germany will be participating with Parelli Natural Horsemanship
at Equus for the second time. She is one of their great success
stories with her pair of magnificent black Fresian horses. Silke
has always loved horses, however, when Silke was only 18, a
motorbike accident left her in a wheelchair although that hasn't
stopped her achieving incredible things. Now, she can do many
things, that few able horse owners ever achieve, such as making
her horses lie down on command, amongst a host of other games
she plays with them. |
Kelly
Marks is a former European Champion Lady Jockey and show jumper.
Since being discovered by the world famous 'Horse Whisperer' Monty
Roberts, she has made
helping horses and people understand one another her full-time occupation.
At Equus she will be demonstrating her talent by starting the young
stallion Antics as well as bringing her popular horse, Pie, along
to do some advanced Trec.

Ascot
Park Polo Club, with its friendly atmosphere is home to the
unique team of Grace sisters. The team at Ascot Park are pioneers
of making polo accessible to a wider audience and in this vein
they will be offering 'Have a go' sessions at Equus 2003. Victoria
Grace one of the leading women's polo players will be on hand
to offer expert advice. |
Di
Lampard has produced lots of young horses through to international
level and is the perfect candidate to host a show jumping clinic.
Producing the International Showjumper & Rider sponsored by
Horseware Ireland, will take place on Thursday 3rd April at 10.30am.
One of her horses, William's Spirit has been injured and out of
action for nearly 18 months but is now back on track and they are
hoping to re-introduce him to international competition next Summer,
but first, you can see him at Equus!
The
Quarter Horse, one of the most amazing breeds of horse, will be
at Equus with David Deptford from Sovereign Quarter Horses. Apart
from its aptitude for sprint races, the Quarter horse is also used
in a variety of other equestrian disciplines. 'They have an exceptional
temperament, docile but lively and energetic' says David. Some of
his horses will be available for members of the audience to 'Have
a go' and experience western riding at Equus 2003.
Team
Balanced English Vaulting Squad includes four members who represented
GB in the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain. Bowler, their
horse is famous in his own right - voted best Individual horse in
the 2002 British Championships for the fourth year - the 16 year
old, 17.1hh chestnut Hanoverian Gelding by Brentano is one of the
most experienced vaulting horses in GB.
World-class
displays and demonstrations, seminars, shopping, lots of excitement
and celebrities can all be enjoyed at Equus 2003. A trio of specialist
clinics with Olympic riders will be held in the evenings at 7.30pm
with Pippa Funnell, Geoff Billington and Anky van Grunsven. Tickets
can be booked for specific daytime or evening performances from
£10 adults and £7.50 children. Open Thursday 3rd April-Saturday
