WEF Challenge Cup II
Wellington, FL January 30, 2003 The Bayer/USET Gold
Coast Classic today held the $25,000 WEF Challenge Cup II 238.2. with
43 entries and weather in the 70s. This speed class was won
by Todd Minikus of Loxahatchee, FL, riding Gardenio, owned by YZ Partners,
in a time of 65.26 seconds. Eleven horses completed the Frank Rothenberger
designed course fault-free. Olympian Norman Dello Joio was second
in a time of 65.77 seconds riding Eleanor Belknaps Milla. Chris
Kappler rode Kathy Kamines Primeur 58 to third place in 66.61
seconds.
Todd
Minikus had a good day as he also won the $2,500 1.35m Time First
Jump-off with Geez Louise owned by Todd. The $2,500 High Amateur-owner
Jumpers Time First Jump-off was won by Rebecca Astrom riding Jolien
for Twin Oaks Farm. The 7 Year Old Young Jumper class was won by
Jeffrey Welles with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Crofts Octavious.
Due
to the fine management of Stadium Jumping Inc. the horse show finished
with an early day where all jumping competitions were completed
by 3:30 PM.
Tickets
to the Winter Equestrian Festival are available by phone at 793-JUMP
or at the gate. Admission is free on Wednesdays. Children 12 &
under are free all days. Senior admission is $5 every day. Adult
admission is $5 on Thursday and Friday, $10 on Saturday, and $15
on Sunday. Parking is free.
