Star
of Seabiscuit to Visit the Colorado Horse Park
Parker,
CO Fighting Ferrari, one of the equine stars of the blockbuster
Seabiscuit is coming to the Colorado Horse Park this January. The
bay gelding will call the Park his home away from home for a week
while he is in the Parker/Denver area as part of a promotional tour.
The
Park was chosen as Seabiscuits home base because
the equestrian facility is well known for its high quality facilities
and top-notch horse care. Fighting Ferrari has three public appearances
on his schedule: the Denver Chamber of Commerces Boots N Business
Luncheon on January 9, a photo opportunity at Burt Ford in Parker
on January 10 and the National Western Stock Show Parade on January
13.
For
the personable horse, this busy schedule is nothing new. Fighting
Ferrari, one of ten horses who played the role of Seabiscuit in
the movie, was chosen because of his good looks and wonderful personality.
The ex-racehorse not only appeared in the film, but also helped
promote the movie in a variety of situations, including at the Telluride
Film Festival. Before becoming a movie star and promotions wizard,
Fighting Ferrari had a career on the racetrack, but his only win
came in a $5000 claiming race.
Fighting
Ferrari now makes his permanent home at Skyline Guest Ranch, just
eight miles from the town of Telluride. Here he can kick up his
heels in the pasture and be a horse. He is in active retirement
as he is learning how to live the life of a guest ranch horse.
