Seniors Day at the Horse Show Features Special Exhibits Annual Heritage Palms Seniors Day presented by KESQ-TV and The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies at the Indio Desert Circuit, Sunday, March 4, 11am-1pm

INDIO, CA (February 23, 2001)--Seniors will be admitted free to the Indio Desert Circuit horse show on Sunday, March 4, from 11am to 1pm for the annual Heritage Palms Seniors Day presented by KESQ-TV and The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies. Seniors Day is an annual event presented as part of the six-week Indio Desert Circuit hunter/jumper horse show. Heritage Palms will treat seniors to guided trolley tours of the 80-acre show grounds, JFK Hospital staff will provide special health screening checks, and shaded seating will be available in the pavilion overlooking the Grand Prix field. Exhibits and displays for Seniors Day will be set up in a special area and will include the Coachella Valley Wild Bird Center, Rose Society, Electric Car golf carts, County of Riverside C.A.R.E. Program, and Joslyn Senior Center.

Following the Seniors Day festivities, seniors and their families are invited to stay for the highlight of Indio Desert Circuit V, the $50,000 HITS Grand Prix. The Grand Prix ring features top show jumping riders from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe competing for high-stakes prize money.

There are four food service facilities on-site and a covered patio with tables and chairs on the berm between the jumper rings where attendees can enjoy a snack or a meal and watch the competition. Shoppers can visit more than a dozen 'boutiques' stocked with tack, clothing, jewelry, and other horse-related gifts and souvenirs in the Desert Marketplace.

HITS Desert Horse Park features competition Wednesday through Sunday from 8am until approximately 4pm in 10 competition rings. Admission on Saturday or Sunday is $5 for adults. Children 12 and under are always admitted at no charge. Parking is free at the new parking lot on the show grounds. The Indio Chamber of Commerce will provide volunteers as ticket takers on Sunday, March 4, and will receive a percentage of the total ticket proceeds at the end of the six-week horse show.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-10 to the Monroe Street exit in Indio. Go south approximately five miles to Avenue 52. Turn right onto Avenue 52. Horse Show entrance is ½ mile on right.
