EFI Coach Education
Courses Scheduled For Spring 2002
HAVING JUST completed
the second part of four EFI Level 1 coaching courses
which commenced last Autumn, the new dates for both Introductory and Level
1
EFI Coaching Courses have been announced. These courses will take place
in
March and April of 2002, and already demand for places is high.
The courses are attracting
many competitors, both National and International
and their coaches who are mindful of the constant requirement to update
their knowledge and coaching skills. The courses are designed in a
progressive manner, each course including modules on the three major
disciplines of Show Jumping, Dressage/Flatwork and Eventing together with
modern coaching, mental and physical preparation methodologies.
The Introduction to
Coaching course, is a one day course that introduces the
principles of coaching through both practical and classroom based
activities. Potential coaches must be at least 18 years of age, and have
a
sound knowledge of horses and horsemanship. Participants receive a
certificate of attendance on completion of the course.
The Level 1 course
is four day course which covers the essential areas
necessary to work competently as an EFI Assistant Coach at Novice level,
with an emphasis on skill development, participation and enjoyment. The
course is divided into two sections, with each part lasting two days.
The
intervening time allows participants to implement and consolidate the
principles learnt from the first two days. Following the four day course
the
coaches are required to plan and complete twenty coaching sessions and
they
return the resulting log book from these sessions together with a First
Aid
at work certificate.
On completion of all
elements of this comprehensive course, the coaches
receive an Assistant Coach Level 1 Certificate. It should be noted that
at
this stage the participant is not qualified to coach alone and must operate
under the supervision of an experienced coach.
