Auckland
Polo Club joins the web
The Auckland Polo Club, the largest polo club in New Zealand, is the
latest from the sport of kings to join the world wide web.
The
ancient sport of polo has a huge online following, and the club's
new website, at www.aucklandpolo.co.nz,
will be a one-stop shop for players wanting to know more about the
services the Auckland Polo Club offers.
As
well as weekly news and up-to-date results during the season, draws
and fixtures are also featured on the site. Early this month the
draw for the upcoming New Zealand open will be released first on
the website.
The
club's general manager, Niki Hulston, says that the website was
created in response to demand from players and supporters -- especially
those living all or part of the year away from New Zealand. "Now
players will be able to access results and draws immediately they
are available.
"It
will also ease the administrative load as we are able to provide
information to players and prospective players immediately, rather
than relying on the post."
The
club, with more than 40 players, operates seven grounds and has
several additional private grounds available for tournaments. This
year the club is host to New Zealand's championship tournament,
the Savile Cup, as well as the New Zealand Open.
The new site was created by equine web design specialists Horsetalk
(www.horsetalk.co.nz), and is also hosted by Horsetalk.
